Question: I wanted to ask your opinion. What do you think of me taking B12 vitamins? I need some more energy through the day. I’m 94 pounds and eat all day. My metabolism is through the roof so nothing stays with me very long. I eat breakfast sometimes but not like I should. I eat a normal, usually very healthy lunch but nothing out of the ordinary for me or my size. I’m on the go from about 6:00 until about midnight so I know I’m not getting enough sleep. I do drink coffee and caffeinated drinks all day. It seems like they are the only things that help get me going!

Answer:
With all that going on you’re making me tired…If you don’t eat a protein based breakfast (eggs) and some fruit (carbohydrates) or fiber (oatmeal) you start your day in an energy deficit.

Basically you start your day tired and you remain tired throughout the day. Then to add insult upon injury you add caffeine and sugar to your already pummeled energy system which brings you up for a while and then crashes. Can someone say “vicious cycle”! You definitely need to see a “very” and I mean “VERY” qualified nutritionist. There’s something that either you’re not telling me or some food allergy, or problem with your system that I can’t grasp. So it’s always better to consult an expert whose specialty is the food we take in. I recommend you call three area nutritionists and get some references from friends or colleagues. A note about the sugar intake…stop! Especially HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP.
